Make sure she's covered up.
That's from my Mum. Every sunny day, without fail — she will text or call. "Make sure she's covered up."
That's where our name came from.
I'm Georgia — a Critical Care Nurse in Melbourne, and a Mum. I've been nursing for eight years. I never planned to make a product.
My daughter was seven months old and it was over thirty degrees. I walked her to the library with sunscreen rubbed into her legs, because our pram canopy doesn't provide enough shade to reach them, and my hands were sticky on the handle the whole way.
Another Mum was there with what looked like a pillowcase slid over the bottom of her pram. Her own mum had sewn it for her.
I couldn't stop thinking about it. A problem I'd just had and a homemade fix sitting right in front of me.
I went home and cut into the UPF blanket I'd bought for a beach holiday. I threaded it onto the bumper bar and knotted the extra underneath.
That was the first COVR. I used it that summer and set to work attempting to get a prototype made.
